Last night, my 9-year-old daughter’s class held a poetry cafe where the students all shared poems that they had written. There were snacks and socializing, and it was a fun evening overall. As part of their poetry unit, they’ve been watching videos of spoken word poets sharing their creations. At the gathering last night we got to see some of their favourites including the following two, both of which contain important messages that we all need to take to heart.
