Several weeks ago I came across several smoothie recipes and one of them sounded particularly delicious so I bookmarked it. It stayed bookmarked, but I didn’t make it, until last weekend.
While my wife has made me smoothies, I had not ever made myself one. We have a very nice blender that’s easy to use and easy to clean, but I was a bit nervous about making myself a smoothie. There was no rational reason for this, other than I hadn’t used our very nice blender before and other things seemed more important than taking the time to do this.
On Sunday I really wanted something with chocolate, but also something filling, so I made a smoothie, and it turned out to be even more delicious than it sounded when I first read the recipe.
It came from this site, but I modified it a bit so I’m going to share what I used here:
- 1 cup of milk (I like skim, so that’s what I used)
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 tablespoon smooth peanut butter (we use a natural one from Kraft with no sugar added)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons unsweetened coco powder
- 1/2 scoop Vega chocolate flavoured protein powder (my addition, not in the original recipe).
This makes 1 350 ml smoothie and using the ingredients I did, the smoothie has just under 30 grams of sugar (all naturally occurring, not added or processed) and 23 grams of protein.
The next day, I doubled the recipe, drank half and put the other half in Mason jar for the next day.
I could have been drinking this amazing nectar weeks ago, but I let my self-doubt talk me out of it for too long. I hope that I make that mistake less off in the future.
