What’s Essential?

Visual Note-taking summary of the book Essentialism

This will be brief because I’m starting my vacation tomorrow. That’s also why you won’t see a new post here until November 18th. On Monday, however, be sure to check out the Better Me Podcast to here my interview with gynaecologist / singer-songwriter (yes, you read that right) Kristina Dervaitis talking about her new album Overdue and the increase in demand for contraception during the pandemic.

Something I’m reading now is Greg McKeown’s book Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. This isn’t the “essentialism” of Plato, et al., which had to do with everything having an essence, but rather about focusing on the things that really matter, whether that’s in your work or your personal life.

I’ve just started it, but this visual note-taking video from Verbal to Visual provides a brief, but interesting explanation of the concepts in the book.
